Society and Justice

Here's a little follow up on a couple of issues I've highlighted, one recently and one not so recently.

Society
The first article relates to unique social issues in China. Marriage is one. The One-child policy is another. This year marks the 30th anniversary of a landmark policy that is having ripple effects into history. Here's a website with some information on it. Some of it may be reliable, and some more conjecture, but the population graph is helpful, and the points along the top give key moments in the timeline of the history of the policy. Browse around, follow some of the links to interesting resources, graphs and charts, interview excerpts, etc. This blog has more info and links to info.

On a second note relating to this issue, check out this article. In light of things like this, it makes me wonder what China's true population is. How many kids are 'unaccounted' for and how many were born overseas and thus legitimately not a Chinese citizen (this number may not be that high, but still a contributor)?

And then there's this. I don't even know what to do with it. Not even one chance in a million, but one in 7.5 million.
